Why noodle๐
It's a tradition for Chinese New Year to have noodle as the closing course for dinner. It's also a tradition on your birthday to have noodle as a standalone meal. Why noodle is always at the center of celebration? Short answer, it's a symbol of long and prosper. Noodle, as the translation of character ้ข1, is by default long. Brewed from long history and culture, long means prosper.
Rainy cold day is unpleasant outside. However, it offers some of the most comforting experiences by contrast if you know how to harness. For example, watching stormy sky from a cozy spot. Or, slurping noodles with hot broth. It's more of a psychological effect. Nonetheless, warmth is real.
Weeks ago we made a big pork shoulder roast. It was prophesied that it may last long enough to qualify as holiday roast. From then to now, we've made so many amazing pork dishes that A exclaims "it just keeps giving". One of its many uses is soup noodle. It's the culinary homeomorphism in the sense that noodle bowl is the reconstruction of pork and pork is present in every building block of noodle. Sautรฉ onion with pork fat. Mix with pulled pork. Pork bone broth as soup base. A bowl of pork distillation.

The noodle was such a blast that none of us took a picture of the final bowl before diving in. There are only steaming in the making shots.

1 In Japanese, character for noodle is ้บบ. As you can see it has the same ้ข component with the additional ้บฆ, which translates to wheat. This suggests Japanese noodle is probably traditionally made of wheat.
